On "The Breaking of Our Days," close attention was paid to the orchestration and production, assembling a specific combination of instruments so each song occupies its own textural space.
The album is neither disjointed nor monotonous, but expertly crafted so subtleties shine, even in the context of a larger ensemble.
Fairbanks led her cast of hand-picked vocal specialists and multi-instrumentalists while herself playing piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and ukulele.
Fairbanks' broad songwriting repertoire touches on elements of indie, country, blues, jazz and pop and, coupled with the vast aural colors at her disposal, her distinct, signature voice is the ever-present thread.
With the exquisite acoustics at The Bing, the live dynamic was ethereal.
Karli Fairbanks is currently touring California, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Idaho and Washington. Her next home show is April 30, at The Blvd. with Seattle acoustic country singer Sera Cahoone.
