Here's this week's top club shows from The Som Show, as appears in the Entertainment Spokane weekly e-newsletter.
One eskimO - Incorporating magically ambient animation into its live show, The UK's One EskimO plays subversive, intelligent indie-rock that transports listeners to a land where penguins, giraffes and monkeys come together to bang, strum and sing songs about life, love, los and, you know, other amazing human being type stuff. Explore the mysteries of existence with One eskimO and locals Jerad Finck and Ron Greene at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, at The Knitting Factory Concert House, 919 Sprague Ave. Cost: Free.
Floater - Portland rock trio Floater is known for progressive concept albums, intricate storytelling and a live show that offers listeners their own personal event horizon. They use synths and loops to recreate alternate versions of their own songs, and unexpected covers during an intense live performance. Rumors abound about the forthcoming eighth album from Floater, so look out for some new tunes when Floater arrives at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 11, at The Knitting Factory Concert House, 919 W. Sprague Ave. Cost: $12 in advance, $14 day of show.
Amber Pacific - If you follow them on Myspace, Facebook, or Twitter, than you already know Seattle indie-rock band Amber Pacific has recently signed with respected hardcore-punk label Victory Records, which has helped launch such acts as Hawthorne Heights, Taking Back Sunday and Taproot. Amber Pacific comes back to town for an early all-ages show with support from Small Town Nation, Goodnight Sunrise, and Cool Cool Universe at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 11, at The Blvd., 230 W. Riverside Ave. Cost: $10 in advance (available through bands), $12 at the door.
Rod Mac - Following Amber Pacific et al, The Blvd. switches gears to a 21-and-older hip-hop show featuring local all-stars Dime City, Jaeda, Kagah, M-Dub, Loss Monstarz and Rod Mac. There promises to be a fluid stream of collaborative songs during this meeting of the minds. Check it out at 9 p.m. on Friday, December 11, at The Blvd., 230 W. Riverside Ave. Cost: $5.
Hell's Belles - Just in time for the holidays, internationally famous Northwest all-female AC/DC tribute band Hell's Belles have been endorsed by Angus Young himself, in case you had any doubts about the quality of the performance. See for yourself when Hell's Belles arrive with Black The Sky at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, at The Knitting Factory Concert House, 919 W. Sprague Ave. Cost: $12.50 in advance, $13 day of show.
